Even if life’s highway were straight there would still be the mountains and valleys, the occasional pothole, seductively attractive diversions, and detours that lead nowhere. Sometimes we come to a halt, or make painfully slow progress, and yet, when we look around we see other travelers who appear to be moving forward purposefully and with ease. They seem to skillfully avoid the dips in the road and the uneven pavement, and they approach the sharp curves as if they already know what is around the corner.
